15/09/2015
The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) and Singapore Green Building Council (SGBC) held a carnival on 27 June, 2015 in an effort to raise awareness about the importance of environmentally friendly buildings and saving energy.
The inaugural Build it Green (BiG) Day Out at Dhoby Ghaut was attended by about 1,200 visitors. It featured 14 stalls where they could play games, take photographs and even get a temporary tattoo. They could also exchange incandescent or compact fluorescent light bulbs for a free energy efficient LED one, with the former being sent for recycling.
Mr Lee Yi Shyan, Senior Minister of State for National Development and Trade and Industry was guest of honour and commended seven organisations which pledged their support for the BCA Green Mark Portfolio Programme - a 2013 initiative encouraging building tenants to adopt energy efficient design, technology and environmental management systems.
